My singing students upped the stakes again this year by succeeding in a smooth, competent delivery of backing vocals for each other as well as stunning the audience with their solo performances. We had a wide range of genres & styles, popular classics and self-penned songs to entertain a full house at the legendary ‘Bedford’ in Balham.

14 brave students, some performing publicly for the very first time, were backed by our live band consisting of professional musicians Johann Ting, Craig Hendry, Dan Ezard, Matt Condon, Simon Small & vocalist Loretta Andrews helping out with the backing vocals.

As their vocal coach I was so proud to see some singers now on their 3rd showcase with me, performing with such confidence and ability. Experience is the best confidence-builder out there and that is why the Showcases are so important. Students learn things from the whole experience of performing live with real musicians that you can’t fully appreciate in a classroom setting. I was equally proud of those who took to the stage for the first time – although it can be a frightening experience it’s always a very fulfilling one too.
